King Tut - My Sweet Angel
On a personal note.... This month, our beloved 17.5-year-old King Tut crossed the rainbow bridge. The way he loved and snuggled was unlike any other cat I've ever had. The moments are still quite tender, and I miss him so. He was diabetic for the past year, so every day, twice a day, I had to give him insulin injections. Giving myself 73,000 insulin shots so far was easy compared to the first few times of having to inject him. But we persevered. He taught me so much about

Nurturing the Artist Within Series | 001
We all have one - the artist within. You know, the bold, beautiful (as God sees you), courageous, beauty-seeking, full-of-wonder version of you. Not the prim and perfect, but the soul that is searching as it is longing for expression at the same time. Or at least, she wants to. If we're honest, most of us have a quiet and deep desire to listen to that part of ourselves. It is indeed where we find fulfillment in all that God has for us. Creativity comes from a place of cur

Dried Hydrangea Inspiration
Two years ago, I had an abundance of hydrangea flowers. I was over-the-moon excited, so I pressed and dried a lot of them. From my Joymail Collection #9 - God's Abundance, I wanted to use the dried flowers creatively. This video takes you through my process of sealing the flowers and making my final piece. It wasn't what I originally intended, and I kind of LOVE that! Join me over on Patreon for the full project. https://www.patreon.com/melaniefaganart/posts/dried-hydrangea

Joymail Collection #10 | I Am Loved
Something to remind yourself when life gets hard. You are loved, deeply, beyond comprehension. In choosing this month's imagery, I asked myself one question. Where do I feel the love of God the easiest and the most? I knew the answer before I even completed the thought. On the shore of Lake Superior, that is my heart's home this side of Heaven. It is the place I go to relax and let the cares of this world fall away. I honestly can't tell you the number of times the Lor

Noticing Pages - A Place to Slow Down, See, & Experience God's Goodness & Beauty
Imagine having pages of soulful words written by you, in a moment of peace, calm, and mental release. I know that may cause some of you to think, but I am not a writer. That is not what this is about. What if it was simply about noticing? Noticing: The flutter of the hummingbird's wings. The sound of waves crashing on the shore. The heavenly scent of lilacs in June. The soft fluffy fur of your Maine Coon kitty. That first sip of warm coffee on a crisp fall morning. That fa

An Artist Working Journal of Faith, Beauty, & Wonder | Transform Your Life with Gathered Beauty
Creativity That Transforms Your Life | A Working Journal of Faith, Beauty & Wonder I wish I had given myself permission to do this years ago. To gather beauty without a purpose. To collect photographs, words, colors, and everyday moments simply because they stirred something in my soul. I didn't realize I was creating more than a journal. I was developing a way of noticing God's presence more often. In this video, I'm sharing the creative practice that has quietly transformed

On Healing & New Beginnings - A Handmade Journal
A journal ...on healing & new beginnings...

Welcome to Melanie Fagan Art
{My FIRST Welcome video Circa 2020 - It is where I started and is paving the way for where we are going together! :) } The other day I was going through some old videos and I came across this little gem that I had yet to share anywhere. It's funny how life will steamroll your best intentions and dreams; hopefully not forever though. Yes, sometimes, obviously, the most important things need to take priority...like a second breast cancer diagnosis in 18 months and the subsequ

Collage Art 01 - Breathtaking Simplicity
I find myself drawn more and more to the art of collage. The possibilities of incorporating endless layers of personal meaning really speak to me. Also, it’s a great way to incorporate and play with my photos in new and creative ways. This page is from a new square journal I created over the weekend titled - Breathtaking Simplicity. It’s a reminder, a guide, a place to land and rest from the chaos that tries to steal my day. There's the possibility of chaos, always; and the
